Godzilla made his debut in 1954 a Japanese film Gojira. Gojira, the monsters name in Japanese is gorilla and kujira, a word for whale. Godzilla was for the english speaking audiences. He was a rampaging 400 foot tall prehistoric monster brought back to life by a atomic bomb testing. In his first movie, Godzilla showed his radioactive breath.

From the 1950s to the 1970s, Toho produced a total of 15 Godzilla movies, in which the monster battled Mothra (a giant moth), Ghidrah (3 headed dragon), Rodan (a giant pterodactyl), Hedora (a smog creature), and others.

By the mid 70's Godzilla became so nice that he was almost cuddly. He could be seen dancing little jigs, and having friendly conversations with other monsters and playing daddy to his son. Godzilla was given a new puppy like face.

During 1975 Godzilla movies were no longer popular so he took a 10 year vacation.

By 1985 Godzilla was bad to the bone again with special effects and a mean face.

FOODS WITH INTERESTING STORIES BEHIND THEIR NAMES:

Pumpernickel Bread: is thought to come from the German words pumpern, which means "to fart", and Nickel, which means "devil". Supposedly this dark bread is coarse enough to produce gas of devilish proportions.

Lasagna: Comes from the ancient Greek word lasanon, which means "chamber pot" (a container used like a toilet). The Romans later jokingly used this word which became lasanum, to refer to a large cooking pot. Eventually, the word turned into the modern Italian word for the dish of flat noodles (cooked in a large pot) and sauce.

Arts & Crafts *Recipes*

~Play Slime~

Corn Starch
Water
Food Coloring

Put cornstarch in bowl. Add enough water to make a paste. If desired, you may also add food coloring. This makes a messy slime that goes from liquid to solid, and is great fun to play with.

~Bubbles~

1 Cup of Water
1/3 Cup Dish Soap
2 Tablespoons light corn syrup

combine ingredients and enjoy. If you don't have bubble blowers around the house, try using different objects from you utensil drawer (e.g., apple corer, potato masher, or use a hanger and make your own bubble blower, for large bubbles)

~Kool-Aid Enhanced Playdough~

This is a great recipe for playdough and it smells great!

2 Cups of Flour
4 teaspoons of cream of tartar
1 Cup salt
1 1/2 Cups boiling Water
3 - 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil

Add one package of Kool Aid mix, oil and food coloring to boiling water. Combine remaining ingredients, and mix well. As you knead it, the dough will get smoother. Store in airtight container. Delightfully scented, very pliable and easy to roll or sculpt.
